India has nearly 1.5 lakh recognised startups. Yet one of the hardest things for any founder remains finding the right co-founder, collaborator or mentor — someone who shares the vision, complements the skills, and has the drive to build something from scratch.
Shreya Nair got tired of waiting for that to be solved. So she built the solution herself.
The Problem That Started It All — Networking Was Broken
For Shreya Nair, networking always felt broken. Despite having over a decade of experience in content writing, instructional design, and social media, she saw how difficult it was for professionals to build meaningful connections. While dating apps made personal connections instant, professional networking still felt slow, messy, and frustrating.
The irony was impossible to ignore. Want a date? Swipe right — done in seconds. Want a co-founder for your startup? Send a LinkedIn request, wait three days, get ignored, repeat.
Shreya realized that the process lacked speed, clarity, and simplicity. People didn’t just need connections — they needed the right connections, quickly.
That gap became her opportunity.
Who Is Shreya Nair? The Woman Behind the Swipe
Shreya isn’t your typical tech founder — and that’s exactly what makes her story interesting.
Shreya Nair is from Hyderabad and built her career around a degree in mass communication and a master’s in journalism. Writing and content creation became her natural strengths. She worked as an instructional designer for more than seven years and her experience in content spans more than twelve years.
She later moved into freelancing, writing and managing social media for various brands. She also created a storytelling page called Raw Stories — Humans of Kovai — in Coimbatore, where she interviewed people and produced narrative content. This platform helped her deepen her understanding of human behaviour and the power of storytelling.
That storytelling background gave her something most tech founders lack: a deep understanding of what people actually want — not just what they say they want.
The Idea — Bringing Swipe Culture to Professional Networking
This led her to build ZSpawn — a Made in India swipe-based networking platform. The concept was simple yet powerful: if people can find personal matches in seconds, why not professional ones?
Shreya put it simply in her own words:
“People swipe and meet partners in seconds, but when a founder wants to meet another founder, it takes an eternity. I wanted to change that.”
ZSpawn allows users to:
- Swipe to discover potential co-founders, collaborators and mentors
- Instantly connect — no long request queues, no unanswered DMs
- Find professional events — both online and offline, listed right inside the app
- Build real-time relationships — the platform is built for action, not browsing
Unlike traditional platforms, ZSpawn focuses on real-time interaction and ease of use. It removes friction from networking and makes the process more intuitive and direct.
Who Is ZSpawn Built For?
This is not just a tool for IIT graduates or funded startup founders. ZSpawn is designed to be genuinely inclusive.
The platform is designed especially for startup founders looking for co-founders, professionals seeking collaborators, and individuals searching for mentors.
The app caters to everyone — from students developing their first idea to 50-year-old entrepreneurs looking for innovative partners.
In India, where most co-founder searches happen through personal networks and warm introductions, this kind of open, swipe-based discovery could be genuinely game-changing — especially for first-generation founders who don’t have elite college networks to tap into.
Building ZSpawn — 9 Months of Prototypes, Bugs and Belief
Having the idea was only the beginning. Building the product was a different challenge entirely.
Shreya had never experienced app development before. She initially approached another development team, but the process seemed too complicated and expensive.
Then a mutual contact introduced her to exactly the right person at exactly the right time.
A close contact introduced her to Rajesh Watkar, an experienced software developer and founder of Orangebits Digital Solutions, with more than a decade of experience building scalable and impactful digital solutions.
“When he heard my idea, he took two days to do research and told me: ‘Let’s do it.’ That changed everything,” Shreya shared. Rajesh Watkar not only believed in the idea but built the entire application with his team, invested in development, and supported Shreya throughout the journey.
The app development process took nearly nine to ten months, involving numerous prototypes, tests, bug fixes and refinements.
Nine months of building an app she had never built before. That’s not a founder who needed validation — that’s a founder who needed a solution.
Early Traction — Users Are Connecting Daily
ZSpawn is still in its early stages — but the signals are encouraging.
Although the professional networking app is recent, membership is encouraging. Analytics show that users are connecting every day, with India accounting for the majority of usage.
The platform has also attracted international users — a sign that the problem of slow, friction-heavy professional networking is not unique to India. It’s a global pain point with a Made-in-India solution.
The Bigger Picture — Why India Needs ZSpawn Right Now
India’s startup ecosystem is booming — but its co-founder matching infrastructure hasn’t kept pace.
Most founders rely on college alumni groups, WhatsApp communities, or expensive accelerator programmes to find co-founders. These channels are limited by geography, network strength, and social capital. They exclude the majority of ambitious professionals who sit outside elite institutional networks.
ZSpawn flips that model. Instead of who you know, it’s about what you’re building — and whether your swipe finds someone building in the same direction.
Shreya’s vision goes beyond just building an app. She is reimagining how professional relationships are formed in a digital-first world. ZSpawn challenges the traditional idea that networking must be slow and formal — introducing a model that is fast, intuitive and real-time.

A Founder Who Solved Her Own Problem
Shreya Nair didn’t come from a tech background. She didn’t have an IIT degree or VC connections. What she had was a frustration so real, and a solution so clear, that she spent nearly a year building it from scratch with a partner who believed in the idea.
That’s the best kind of startup — one born from lived experience, not whiteboard brainstorming.
If you’re a founder in India who has ever sent ten LinkedIn messages with zero replies while searching for a co-founder — ZSpawn was built for you.
